Sat, April 19, 2008 - 5:18 PMwhats funny is 2 days later this is from Nalgene
www.nytimes.com/2008/04/18...lastic.html
personally I never felt like there was any danger from nalgene...those tests they were doin to bottles were under EXTREME heat and using detergents to clean them and Ive never treated my bottles like that..But if they can still make the product and still have them be hard...then Im game for it

Re: Quit drinking water, stick with beer
Sat, April 19, 2008 - 11:58 PMThat's why I like drinking from my Klean Kanteen www.kleankanteen.com/ Water just seems to taste better out of it rather than a plastic bottle. I still have an alternate plastic bottle that I use when I have to but in general I don't like using plastic. Plus, and I don't know if it mentioned this in the article, it's really not safe to heat food in a plastic container in the microwave. Toxins leech into the food. Not good.
Go ahead, it's OK if you think this is crazy or alarmist, but I just can't ignore the many articles and studies I have read about this very issue over the last 8 or so years. -

Re: Quit drinking water, stick with beer
Sun, April 20, 2008 - 8:08 AMthanks for the link to the klean kanteen Tree! I have been using all variations of plastic bottles, and found that they all take on a bad smell over time, no matter how many times I wash them. I am not sure how much real immediate danger there is in using the plastic water bottles under average conditions, but if there is a better alternative, I am all for giving it a try.

Mon, April 28, 2008 - 3:11 PMLOVE the klean kanteen.
If you're looking for a klean kanteen, order it from REI instead of the web site to save on shipping. REI's shipping is cheaper (the kanteen is the same price), plus they will ship it for free to an REI in your area.

Sucks nalgene is changing their ways NOW, after I already own a few! I'm not that worried about the toxins that come from my nalgene, but I'm very impressed with Canada for taking this step. I do NOT want our children drinking from toxic baby bottles - that's ridiculous.
